Emma Roberts

Biography

Emma joined Stephensons in 2019 as a solicitor in the family law department based in the Manchester office. She was made an associate later in the same year. In 2023 Emma was promoted to partner and became the head of divorce and finances. 

Emma studied for her undergraduate degree at the University of Keele and obtained her postgraduate degree in legal practice at the University of Staffordshire. Emma qualified as a solicitor in April 2012. Emma has specialised in family Law since 2010.

Emma has expertise and experience in advising on all aspects of family law, specifically:

• Divorce and civil partnership dissolution
• Financial issues arising out of divorce/dissolution
• Cohabitation and pre and post marital agreements
• Pre and post nuptial agreements
• Disputes concerning children

Emma is a Resolution specialist family lawyer and therefore seeks to resolve areas of dispute in a constructive and non-confrontational way. Wherever possible Emma will aim to negotiate settlements outside of court, but will support and advise clients through litigated proceedings if necessary. Since August 2015, Emma has been an accredited specialist in Children Act proceedings and complex financial remedy proceedings, gaining specialist status under the Resolution scheme through a robust independent assessment with demonstrates skills, expertise and knowledge.

Emma endeavours to provide clients with straightforward advice, whilst respecting that many people are experiencing a difficult stage in their lives when compassion and sensitivity are paramount. Emma offers a personable and emphatic approach and provides helpful communication from enquiry to completion. Emma is flexible with appointments either in person or over the telephone.

Emma aspired to be a lawyer from a young age and the driving force behind her ambition was to assist people about their rights and help them achieve fairness. Emma is proud of the good relationships she develops with clients which frequently leads to personal recommendations.
