Shahina Sakeria
Biography
Shahina is a senior associate solicitor within the personal injury department at Stephensons.
Shahina qualified as a solicitor in 2011 having completed her training contract with a recognised Manchester firm. She joined Stephensons in 2013 and was made an associate of the firm in 2018 and a senior associate in 2019. She is accredited by the Law Society.
In addition to her role as a solicitor, Shahina assists the department manager in risk assessing new cases, reviewing cases that come through the internal panel team, chairs support staff meetings and manages a small team. Shahina is an active member of Stephensons corporate social responsibility and brand committees. Shahina also delivers interactive BRAKE presentations to local schools as part of National Road Safety Week each year.
Shahina keeps herself updated with legal changes by attending conferences and events which are relevant to the claims industry. She is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.
Shahina was recognised as a key lawyer in the personal injury team by The Legal 500, 2022 and Other Key Lawyer in 2024.

Notable cases
Our client, whilst on holiday in Mexico, slipped on a concrete slope which was wet and fell, landing on her lower back and left elbow. Primary liability, contributory negligence and quantum were all in dispute. The matter proceeded to trial and our client won judgement in their favour.
Our client was involved in a head on collision accident in which his wife tragically passed away. Liability was admitted. The client sustained multiple fractures all over the body, collapsed lungs, dental injury, rears and ruptures to the body and post traumatic stress disorder and depression. The client underwent several surgical procedures to deal with many injuries. Quantum was in dispute. Settlement was reached at a settlement hearing which was then approved by the Master at an Approval hearing for an undisclosed amount.
Our client was cycling when they were hit by an oncoming car and suffered multiple injuries. The defendant agreed to fund rehabilitation and our client made a 80-90% recovery within 12 months of the accident. The claim was settled in the sum of £145,000.
Whilst at work working on a ladder which was not secured, our client fell and broke his ankle which required ankle fusion surgery. Liability was admitted with contributory negligence being alleged. The client was unable to work and is at some disadvantage on the open labour market. We successfully settled the claim in the sum of £150,000 on a 100% non-fault basis.
Shahina has successfully settled employer liability claims of £220,000 and £165,000. She also regularly settles cases in excess of £50,0000.
Shahina has had the opportunity of working on the high profile case of Yetkin v London Borough of Newham whilst at her previous employment.
In addition to this Shahina has successfully settled many cases, the amount of damages recovered are dependant on the injuries sustained in each individual case.
