Biography
Julie qualified as a solicitor in 2001 and joined Stephensons in 2017 in the commercial litigation department, she became a Partner in 2022.
Julie is highly experienced in litigation and dispute resolution matters covering all aspects of commercial litigation.
She specialises in company, commercial and finance disputes and insolvency claims including:

She is experienced in assisting directors of limited companies in connection with their duties as directors and claims in corporate and personal insolvency.
Julie regularly advises and assists directors and owner managers of small businesses; professional service providers, such as accountants, surveyors, architects and private medical practitioners, in recovering damages for breach of contract and debt recovery in respect of professional fees.
Julie’s approach is to find a commercial solution to disputes, wherever possible, to achieve a swift but satisfactory solution to cases. Where this is not possible, Julie has a reputation for being a determined and assertive litigator, presenting her client’s cases with confidence supported by her considerable experience.
Recent cases
Julie has recently had success in resolving a long running dispute relating to a dental services contract, between a dental practitioner and the professions governing body. The case settled following a referral to mediation.
Acting for a former company director in a dispute with the liquidator of an insolvent company, relating to allegations of misfeasance in office and claims for recovery of monies received by the company in the form of covid-19 bounce back loans. Allegations that the director had used the loan for his own purposes were defeated and the claim was withdrawn.
Acting for former employees of a local business in claims against them for breach of restrictive covenants in their contract of employment, after they had left the business. After some acrimonious claims and counterclaims, the matter was referred to mediation and settled to the satisfaction of all parties.
