If the seller does not resolve the issue, you may be entitled to compensation for any damages or losses incurred as a result of the faulty goods.
Who is liable for a defective product?
The liability for a defective product lies with the manufacturer or seller of the product. They are responsible for ensuring that the product is safe and meets the required standards. If the product causes harm or damage due to a defect, the manufacturer or seller can be held legally responsible for any resulting injuries or losses.
Can a retailer be held liable for defective products UK?

To prove a product is defective, collect evidence such as photographs, videos, or documents that clearly demonstrate the defect. Keep the product and any packaging, instruction manuals, or receipts as evidence. Consult with a personal injury solicitor for assistance in building a compensation claim if you wish to claim for an injury the defective product caused.
What evidence do I need to support my accident products claim?
You will need to provide evidence such as photographs or videos of the accident that was caused by the product, medical records documenting injuries sustained, witness statements, police reports, and any other relevant documentation or evidence that establishes the cause and severity of the accident and the resulting damage or injuries.

Recent cases
Stephensons’ personal injury specialists recently settled a case for a claimant who had sustained injury due to tripping over a defective suitcase.
The claimant was travelling on a domestic flight in the UK. They were using a suitcase purchased the previous month from a well known high street retailer. This was the first time using the suitcase since purchase. The suitcase had been carried into the airport. On arrival at the destination airport, they removed the suitcase from the conveyor belt, extended the handle and tried to pull it on two wheels. The wheels seemed very stiff, so they put the handle back in and wheeled the suitcase with some difficulty, using all four wheels on the ground. As they did so, the wheels suddenly stopped and locked, causing our client to fall over the suitcase, landing on the gravel outside of the airport, sustaining injuries to their hands, right knee and face.
The client sustained multiple grazes and lacerations to their face and right hand, which resolved in six months, and a soft tissue injury to their right knee which was anticipated to resolve within 12 months of the accident.
Stephensons proceeded with the case and it was settled out of court with the claimant receiving the sum of £2,000 or their injuries.
