The legal profession is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) who aim to serve the public interest and protect consumers of legal services. In this capacity, if it is identified that a solicitor’s practice needs to be closed down to protect public interest the SRA will ‘intervene’.
All documents and papers that relate to its clients, including files and accounting records are removed from the intervened firm. To assist with this the SRA appoints Intervention Agents to look after the client’s files and redistribute as requested.
