Andrew Page of the Corporate department at Stephensons Solicitors LLP acted for FE Barber Ltd (who currently trade as two businesses; Kingsland Wines and Spirits and Legacy Wines) on the acquisition of Stratford’s Wine Agencies.
Stratford’s will continue to trade as a separate entity out of its Berkshire offices with a clear ‘business as usual’ message to all stakeholders.
Commenting on the acquisition, Andy Sagar, Managing Director of Kingsland said “The deal will benefit both parties and provide essential synergies in sales and marketing, buying and the supply chain to grow the business. Stratford’s is a well-established agency in the trade, and their experience will be invaluable in our continued effort to provide a total wine solution for all our customers”.
Andrew Page said: “This looks to be an excellent acquisition for Kingsland and I wish them every success with developing the Stratford’s business in the future.”
Stratford’s has traded since the early eighties and accumulated several premium agencies, but has been the victim of shrinking margins in a tough trading climate.
The deal signed this week will reaffirm FE Barber Ltd as a major European wine company capable of a complete solution for a wider market.
John Daly of Tenon, Chorley provided corporate finance advice to Kingsland.
