Local people who went online to make their Wills for free with Stephensons Solicitors LLP have raised £2130 for Will Aid.
Stephensons takes part in Will Aid each year. The month long event is an opportunity for people who are yet to make a Will to make their wishes known by making a professionally-drawn up Will. Instead of paying the participating solicitors their usual fee, they are asked to make a donation to Will Aid instead.
Will Aid supports nine UK charities: ActionAid, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, Help the Aged, NSPCC, Save the Children UK, Sight Savers International, SCIAF (Scotland) and Trocaire (N. Ireland).
Rob Gore, an associate solicitor in the Wills and Probate team at Stephensons, said: “We’re pleased that so many people chose to make their Will with us, and also that they chose to do so online.
“It’s an easy and straightforward way to make their wishes known. The online Will function via our website is a three step process: the user completes the question and answer facility. Secondly, our team of Wills solicitors will check the document produced as a result of the answers and then send to the client with instructions for signing. Finally, the execution of the document will be checked when it is returned to us.
“Will Aid benefits nine very deserving charities and we were happy to take part once again, and make a contribution of more than £2000. We hope our participation in this scheme and the generosity shown by our clients will really make a difference to people in the UK and further afield.”
