Wigan’s business community are being invited to attend a free ‘cloud computing’ masterclass on November 1st 2011.
The Wigan Borough Business Club is hosting its next event, ‘Clearing the Mist - understanding Cloud Computing and how it can benefit your business’, at Wigan Investment Centre on November 1st from 6.30pm and is inviting business owners and managers to come along.
The business club is led by a number of leading businesses in the Wigan and surrounding areas, including Stephensons Solicitors LLP, PA Hull & Co chartered accountants, Paul Designs and NatWest. The group meets monthly and is supported by Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.
Phil Donoghue from Cloud 4 Computing will provide a detailed insight into cloud computing, and how it can aid small businesses. Cloud computing is the delivery of computing as a service rather than a product, where shared resources, software, and information are provided to computers and other devices as a utility (like the electricity grid) over the internet.
Claire Jady from PA Hull & Co will also briefly speak about cloud accounting for small businesses. After the presentations, there is also a time slot for networking with other businesses, which can help find new customers and suppliers.
Louise Hebborn, an associate solicitor in Stephensons’ commercial department, said: “The Wigan Borough Business Club is a chance for local businesses of any size to get together and learn about issues which are likely to affect them.
“Topics in the past have covered debt recovery, employment law issues, tax advice and much more. Our next event will be a great chance to find out more about what is quite a new phenomenon, cloud computing, with the opportunity for networking afterwards and a free buffet as well.
“We are keen to welcome new members to our group so would urge people to come along and see how the group can add value to their business activities.”
