Small and medium-sized businesses in Bolton are being invited to a free legal seminar to help them to understand pension auto-enrolment and employment law changes.
Stephensons Solicitors LLP and Jobwise recruitment agency will jointly host the employment law and pensions breakfast update on Wednesday 5th February at the Bolton Arena. The free event is suitable for any type of business whose staging date to implement a pension scheme is yet to commence and who require further information. The seminar will also provide an overview on changes expected in employment law in the next year.
Philip Richardson, an employment solicitor at Stephensons, said: “For the first time just over a year ago, employers were required by law to automatically enrol all eligible workers into a workplace pension and make a contribution to this scheme. There are lessons to be learnt from larger employers who have already started the process. Smaller businesses are yet to enrol, but this year and next, there are various staging dates when they will be required to start participating in the scheme.
“This seminar, in conjunction with Jobwise, will help businesses to understand what is required of them and when. Smaller businesses in particular may have challenges to face when understanding auto-enrolment. They are less likely to have an existing pension scheme and therefore will have less knowledge and experience regarding pensions. It also has an arguably greater financial impact on smaller employers as they have the pension contribution costs to meet as well as the costs for implementation and running it.”
The seminar begins at 8.30am on Wednesday 5th February and will conclude at 9.30am with breakfast included. The event is CPD accredited. Those wishing to attend should register their attendance with Lesley Davies via email to lad@stephensons.co.uk or call 01942 774462.
