The show will go on

Leading law firm, Stephensons Solicitors LLP, has donated money to fund a local theatre’s roof repairs.

Stephensons has pledged £250 to the New Garrett Theatre Company to help to fix the roof of their storage facility. The Formby Hall’s garage in Atherton, where the New Garrett theatre holds their equipment and sets, was seriously damaged by the recent bad weather conditions. The building was left without part of the roof, which also exposed asbestos.

The theatre has now raised enough money for the roof, which came just in time for their 20 year anniversary performances which were held on the 11th to 14th of June. The show attracted over 500 guests from the local community during their four performances.

Ann Harrison, chairwoman at Stephensons, said: “We’re always looking for ways to support community projects. When we found out that the New Garrett Theatre were in need of donations – through a member of our staff - we were more than happy to help.”

Joanne Coates, recruitment officer on the theatre’s committee, said: “We are extremely grateful for the money that Stephensons has donated towards our roof repairs. Without the help of donations we wouldn’t have been able to hold our much anticipated 20 year anniversary show, which would have resulted in a lot of disappointment from the local community.”
