Bankruptcy is key issue at free seminar

North West law firm, Stephensons Solicitors LLP, is holding a free legal seminar in November for business professionals who may encounter bankruptcy or insolvency related issues in their current roles.

The seminar is to be held at the Wigan Investment Centre on November 26th from 3pm to 4.30pm. It will provide professionals, such as accountants and other financial advisers, with the latest legal updates on bankruptcy tourism, prohibited names in insolvency and will also look at what happens to matrimonial homes in bankruptcy.

Kathryn Maclennan, a specialist insolvency solicitor at Stephensons, said: “This is the last event of the year in our series of accountancy and insolvency seminars so I would encourage those who may encounter these issues in whatever capacity to come along to network with other like-minded professionals.”

Nicola Whittle, an associate solicitor specialising in insolvency at Stephensons added: “We will use our experiences to provide topical legal commentary on prohibited names in insolvency, specifically the regulations concerning the re-use of names by company directors. We will also discuss the latest trend for bankruptcy tourism, which has led to individuals from outside the UK utilising the court system here to benefit from a more lenient bankruptcy regime.”

Refreshments will also be provided and 1.5 CPD points are available for attendees. Those wishing to attend should register their attendance with Kathryn Maclennan via email kmn@stephensons.co.uk or call 01942 774425.
