Jack Tweed is most famous for his marriage to the late Jade Goody rather than any other notable contributions to society, but this hasn't stopped him getting himself in front of the Magistrates for a street fight that took place earlier this year. Jack is now 24 years old and yesterday pleaded guilty to common assault on the day of trial at Redbridge Magistrates' Court. The case has now been listed for sentence later this month whilst the Court decides how to punish the tabloid star for the offence.
Mr Tweed had been part of a fight that took place outside Deuces Bar and Lounge in Chigwell, Essex. The bar had been featured in the popular TV series The Only Way is Essex and was once again the setting for a short dramatic episode. Jack Tweed was seen to throw a punch at the victim which connected with the back of his head and then to try and kick him in the head. Mr Tweed's brother faced the Court for a similar allegation and jointly changed his plea to guilty with some mitigation being put forward in respect of provocation by the victim. The police were alerted to the disturbance by the CCTV from the local area and some of the parties at the scene appeared to be suffering from the effects of drink when the police arrived.
When the parties were spoken to by police and interviewed Mr Tweed gave a ‘no comment’ interview thus refusing to provide the police with any further information. The owner of the bar Mark Wright, famed for his appearances in The Only Way is Essex, appeared before the same Court at the same time as Jack Tweed for a different offence that arises out of the same evening. Mr Wright has opted for a full trial which concludes today.
