It is with great delight that we are able to announce that our criminal defence department has again been awarded a tier one ranking in the latest Legal 500 rankings published for 2020. This is the fifth consecutive year that the department has been included within tier one and again acknowledges the elite service delivered by our department.
The Legal 500 is the leading guide to law firms and solicitors in the United Kingdom. In order to determine which firms are recommended, the Legal 500 research team rigorously assesses the capabilities of each firm to ascertain which firms are recommended in particular practice areas. This assessment is based on extensive market research and a variety of criteria, consisting of feedback from other leading solicitors and barristers in the field, previous clients, and the type, range and complexity of criminal cases which the department has been involved in over the prior year.
The department itself is headed by Sean Joyce and the specialist solicitors and advocates within the department have in excess of over 200 years combined experience dealing with criminal defence work. Key individuals within the department recognised within the rankings are Correna Platt, Colin Rawson, Duncan Phillips and Martin Pizzey.
The department offers a full range of services nationwide to those who are being investigated for or charged with complex criminal cases. Over the past year, the department has represented clients charged with murder, manslaughter, serious sexual offences, GBH and other violent offences, firearms, dishonesty offences, drugs offences and motoring offences. On the department, the Legal 500 rankings includes the following testimonial:
‘This is a highly experienced team where members are always involved in the big cases.’
The fact that the department remains in tier one of the rankings demonstrates that the criminal litigation department at Stephensons continues to be a member of a select group of the best criminal lawyers in England and Wales. We are always committed to meeting the highest of standards for our clients and the latest rankings reinforce that we continue to deliver exceptional services to all of our clients across the country.
We would like to thank everyone who has been approached for feedback and we look forward to continuing to deliver specialist services to our clients moving forward.
